Hey 👋 Romain there,
Feel free to pinboard these star traits of a thriving person in your mind or on a wall via cool colorful post-it. So let’s dive in the 7 get attitude smart for success.
7 get attitude smart for success ✅
👉 Be passionate : your level of emotional investment in any entreprise, personal or professional, is often a principal driver of success. It provides you with the strength to overcome obstacles you will meet during your journey. Believing in a vision also gives you a compass to steer by. On the same way, you can use your virtues as guiding stars (wisdom, courage, love, gratitude …), it’s who you are not someone else keystone virtues If you are so fire by something "turn pro" : decide to cut off all other options and to be relentless laser focus on what is important now. But let’s first define your Big Picture, see next point : maintain perspective.
👉 Maintain perspective : avoid focusing on the detail before you have the bigger picture in mind. Remember me, the second rule of « The 7 habits of highly effective people » by Stephen Covey : begin with the end in mind, you need to have a vision and a goal to move toward it. The nitty-gritty is for later, once the outline of the wider plan has been formulated. Please see the eulogy’s exercise at the end of the article and think about which identities | virtues you want to embody in this life as well as how do you want to contribute to this world.
👉 Take charge : seize the initiative because you have sole responsibility for creating your own success in this life. Don’t die at 25 … cultivate a good relationship between the dreamer and the doer. Creativity is the ability to make things happen. Take charge is also be responsable or able to choose the best response whatever the situation knowing that between stimulus and response you have a small gap call freedom to choose. In any situation have a proactive mindset.
Flip the leadership switch inside you and move from taking charge to « Extreme Ownership ». When things don’t go well at home or the office, what do you do? Do you blame on circumstances or do you take the lead via extreme ownership?
👉 Embrace failure : in your life’s journey as well as any long-term project it’s a good practice to see failure as inevitable and part of the process. Don’t take it personally or let it diminish your motivation or enthusiasm. You will have obstacles in your life and don’t see them as threats but as opportunity to growth and use them as data wearing your lab coat. In his book « Principles » Ray Dalio walks us on how he achieved an extraordinary level of success? He shares a « 5 step process to get what you want in life » via a beautiful upward spirals showing us that the whole point of life is to evolve. The funny point if we want to evolve (iterate) we need to fail quickly … it’s a natural process that a lot of startups use currently.
GOALS. Have clear goals. What do you want? Know your why?
PROBLEMS. Identify the obstacles you’re facing that preventing you from reaching your goals. Like an astronaut imagine the worst to be ready whatever the situation. Don’t have a fixed mindset pretending that you will be able to achieve your goals without hiccups. The leaders know they will face obstacles and use them as fuel to evolve. Mantra : “Obstacles make me stronger”. Have an antifragile mindset.
DIAGNOSIS. Diagnose problems and their root causes.
DESIGN. Design a plan, a solution to the problem. IF that happens THEN I will …
DOING. Execute the plan, get to work : what needs to be done now.
Repeat the process : Audacious goals. Problems. Diagnosis. Design. Doing.
👉 Use your toolkit : what kind of ressources do you have? These may consist of time, money, objects, network via people you know, customers ... Make the best use of the ressources at your disposal : use them wisely and wield them creatively. Here I like to say also that you need your body right (physiology) as well as your mind (psychology). See next point : stay positive and energized.
👉 Stay positive and energized : an optimistic driven mindset will insure an abundance of energy, which in turn will bring you constructive and successful results. If you can ingrained in your attitude and habits, positivity, calm, confidence, hope … it will give you the tenacity to triumph over any obstacles you will encounter during your journey, because you will be never exonerated by challenges. Life is the great teacher and repetition again : « Obstacles make me stronger », « My fear fuels me … to be a better version of myself ».
Another point I like to underline when I coach : how do you show up each morning? If you want to show up everyday at your best you need to respect your body by having your energy right via a good night of sleep.
So do you respect your fundies like sleeping well, eating well, moving well? Do you relax by respecting rhythms during your day and having time blocks for relationship? Without balance and great day everyday, you can’t have a great life.
The magic sauce is consistency in your daily rituals. A tiny new habits can have a compound effect on short term and long term. How are you at your best work wise, energy wise, and relation wise?
My non negotiable habits is SLEEP and SPORT … without both of them, guess what : I can be very aggressive and impatient. Yeah I m not perfect and I'm happy with. In the equanimity game I need a lot of improvement. What I like in my journey : it’s a never ending process … but by giving me a chance of optimizing my life and work on my deep foundation I know that I can stand tall. If you want to be tall … have a look on your foundation : how strong are they?
👉 Listen to yourself : follow your inner voice, follow your bliss ... don’t stay in the statut quo and embrace your fear as fuel to act. Do your best not to be swayed by peer pressure or naysayers. It’s your path so don’t be influenced by other’s people opinion. If you see the world differently, you don’t need to be conform to a sick society who likes to blame, criticize against iconoclast people … ACT with courage, fire you up and have also social intelligence : ability to sell your ideas because at one point by being a radiant exemplar and so good in your field you will influence people.
Perception + courage + social skills
Conclusion :
So to be successful, you need to have a good balance of qualities, clarity about how you want to contribute to the world and flexibility like the river that runs between the banks of structure and spontaneity. So to summarize :
Be passionate
Maintain perspective
Take charge : extreme ownership
Embrace failure and iterate
Use your toolkit
Stay positive and energized
Listen your inner voice

Express your Best | Lead your Quest
➡️ Eulogy exercise | Begin with the ultimate end in mind
“ Someone once told me the definition of Hell: The last day you have on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.”
“Some people die at 25 and aren’t buried until 75.”
We’re not going to live forever, so live the moment and appreciate each opportunity to live fully to die empty. Today is the day to live our ideals and strive to show up as our best in service to our families, communities and world. For whatever reason, this reflection below creates an extraordinarily humbling level of urgency for me as well, helping us closing the gap between who we are ad who we can be.
So imagine yourself walking into a funeral and realizing you are the star of the day … Step, feel into that future reality :
What do people in attendance say about you? What qualities did they most admire and appreciate in you?
Which of those qualities are most important to you? Those are eulogy virtues and now is the time to live them. Take 10 - 15 seconds for each one and feel what it’s like to embody that virtue or quality : repeat.
What was your contribution to your family, community and world?
